A crown, also known as a cap, covers a tooth to restore it to its normal shape and size, thereby strengthening and improving its overall appearance.
A crown may be recommended to cover and support a tooth with a large filling. A crown can be used to attach a bridge, protect a weak tooth from breaking, or restore one that is already broken.
There are three main types of dental crowns. Each designed for different applications. Metal gold crowns are particularly suitable for posterior teeth exposed to heavy chewing forces.
Porcelain or ceramic crowns, offer excellent aesthetic results and closely match the appearance of natural teeth. They blend seamlessly in with your smile.
Finally, Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crowns combine the strength of metal with the cosmetic appeal of porcelain. This type of crown is often recommended for load-bearing teeth that are visible when you smile.

X2 new crowns way back in wisdom tooth. It was painless and I got back in for permanent crown placement quickly. They feel like my real teeth.
I went in yesterday mind you this was on a Saturday! I called on a whim due to a crown falling out and needed it fixed as soon as possible, and i was running out of options after calling multiple other offices with no luck. The lady who answered the phone was so kind and quick to let me know to come in as soon as possible and they can help. A+ staff from start to finish. They made me feel calm/comfortable the whole time, were very detail oriented letting me know what happened and quickly came up with a plan for a permanent fix. Dr. Prijic and his hygienist were great! Appreciate this office greatly!
I had a cracked tooth and Dr. Heyn was able to see me right away for a temporary crown. He was professional and very kind, especially regarding numbing the area fully. Well done. Sidney was an excellent technician, too.
Dr. Groen and Hayley did a fantastic job starting my crown! Very little pain with the numbing injection or during the procedure. They both communicated well checking with me often to make sure I wasn’t having issues (especially during drilling!) Fantastic!! I would totally recommend.
2 hours in the chair for decay repair and a crown replacement. Absolutely NO pain! Highly recommend!!
